Tomislav Friščić
Professor in the Department of Chemistry at McGill University

Tomislav Friščić is a Professor at McGill University. He received his B.Sc. at the University of Zagreb with Branko Kaitner (2001), followed by a Ph.D. with Len MacGillivray at the University of Iowa (2006). He was a post-doctoral associate with William Jones (2006), a Herchel Smith Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge (2008), joining McGill University in 2011. His group is a team of excited and highly dynamic undergraduates, graduate students and post-doctoral scientists who work together to develop solid-state catalytic and self-assembly methodologies in diverse areas of organic, metal-organic, pharmaceutical and materials synthesis. He has co-authored >250 research and review articles, as well as book chapters, in the areas of solid-state and materials chemistry, Green Chemistry, crystal engineering and mechanochemistry. He is a co-founder of spin-off businesses Acsynam and Form-Tech Scientific, the Chair of the Canadian National C ommittee for Crystallography (CNCC), Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and a member of the Royal Society of Canada College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.
